Well - expecting a bit of cash in my bank account later this week, and there'll be some left over after paying immediate debts, which is great. So many things to spend it on, though! (It's illogical to save this money.)
Short break...
And after cleaning the beer out of my keyboard and off the front of my screen and amplifier, I can safely say I fucking hate when that happens.
Anyway - back to the money. I know I had been planning on buying a turntable to replace this one I have now for a long time - but I've changed my mind. To what? To a guitar, of course!
Went down to The Music Den a few days ago to see what they have. Some nice guitars there. A few ESP branded guitars, around the $500 mark, which I had budgeted for. One stood out, though, a non-ESP jobbie - looked great. Matte black, little pentagrams for the odd-numbered frets. Very 'metal'. $700 price tag though, blegh. Ah well. Talked to one of the salesdudes - Chris, in fact, and was informed of a store-wide sale coming up for three days in the following week. Awesome. Got a catalogue and had a look. In there, the $700 guitar I had spotted - down to $619. Even better! Turned out to be a Cort EVL-K4.

I'm a student of the music school they're affiliated with, so I'll get further discount off that price, and will get a case and stand as well. Should be awesome; I'll make sure to post photos of the unit itself when it comes into my possession.

Just another site update - currently working on getting a 'Category' system going with the blog posts. It'll probably take a while, given my limited PHP experience - but I've got similar things happening in other parts of the site, so I may just be able to chop & change that code. Should be doing physics homework, but we all know procrastination is just a fact of life. Like death, taxes, and hangovers.

Well, not really, but that's the first word that came to mind. I do expect to be doing a hell of a lot of it over the next semester, of which I'll be attending my first class in ... just over an hour. Maths it is - or to be precise, Calculus and Linear Algebra. Funfun. Especially when one is still attempting to metabolise the previous night's consumed alcohol. Blegh.
Bank account is beginning to settle down a bit now, too. Thankfully - too many things to have to pay for. Rent, car, food, mobile phone and internet, rego, the list goes on. And they're only the things that need to be paid for! On top of that I have to find cash for booze and music. Priorities.
Time for a shower so I don't get kicked out of the lecture theater for reeking of various things.

Ooookay. Here's the big one.
I, in 2006, attended LaTrobe university doing a Bachelor of Nanotechnology/Bachelor of Science double degree. Fucked that up, downgraded to a Bacher of Science degree for the second semester. Fucked that up, too. More a hugely idiotic lack of effort than any inability to do the work. Lived on campus for the year, at Menzies College. Loved it; best year of my life. In any case - in light of the ridiculously bad results, I decided to take a break from education for a year or two. Three months into the next year - decided I can't just work for that long. So ended up doing a Diploma of IT at the local TAFE. Yep, fine, easy as piss. Finished the first year, got a CertIV in IT. Finefine. Got nearly halfway through the second, and getting more sick of it by the day, for numerous reasons. But. BUT THEN.
I got an email from LaTrobe, probably hmmmm, early May? regarding mid-year reenrolment. Awesome. Went to an information expo regarding it, saw some bird to see what my options were. Turns out I could apply - and might get in - but given my results, it wasn't certain. Go see the dude in the faculty, she said, and apply in person. So I did - with a cover letter, certificates from TAFE, etc etc. All that sort of shit. So. I told the dude my situation, and his reply was basically along the lines of "yep, righto, what subjects." Wooo. Easy as pie.
So. Went back a week later to organise my student status, IT account, etc etc. Worked out my timetable - 18 hours, over five days. Shiiiit. To travel from home, 3 days per week, is not do-able. Let alone five. So I went to see Menzies again as to chances of getting back in there. Told to apply online - so I did. And got in. Which, for me, is incredibly good news. More than I could have possibly have hoped for, considering I was fully expecting to be knocked back from the university, let alone the college which prides itself on the academic success of its residents.
To put the icing on the cake, though - got an email from them tonight. My room has been reserved. On the same floor, in the same building, as my old room. A few metres down the hall, in fact. So, it's going to be all new people, which is awesome (and not because of the lot I lived with last time - that was perfect, and contributed to my awesome experience last time) but in familiar surroundings. Considering I don't really have a way with words, I'll just leave it by saying I'm fuckin' ecstatic about this. And I leave in three weeks! All the better!
Isn't going to be an easy year, though. Two years since I last did anything of the sort - and these are lead-on subjects from the first semester, which I passed but not by lots. In any case, I now have hindsight. Which will be the thing to help me the most.
Yay for walls of text. On that note, I'm out. Time for work. Gogo 11pm-7am shifts.

Fixed the horn in my car today. When I ...*ahem* removed the steering lock a while back, I must have lost a connection somewhere or other. It's funny how many retards there are on the road when you don't have a functional horn. In any case, opened her up today and all is well again. That is all.
